Excerpts of correspondence from James Buchanan, Sr. and Elizabeth Speer Buchanan to their son James Buchanan from 1809 through 1826 regarding Buchanan’s early political career. Letters from 1809 through 1813 are written out twice. There are also two envelopes where the excerpcts were kept. 1809-1826.

Letters from Edward Bonsall Jr. and Rachel Bonsall of Salem to Edward's former mother-in-law, Deborah Gibbons, in Mill Creek, Lancaster County at the prodding of his wife, Rachel, for not writing more often.

Letter from Jasper Yeates to his wife, Sarah in which he described the journey by stagecoach from Lancaster to Lancaster with their young grandson, Yeates. Jasper knew that his wife wanted to hear how their grandson fared on the journey to Philadelphia-if he slept, how he behaved, and what he ate-and that he was back with his family in Philadelphia.
