Benjamin Perley Poore ( 1820-1887 ) was a popular newspaper correspondent and editor and an author. This book is his account of history , politics , and life as he observed it in Washington D.C. and the nation during his lifetime.

An article containing letters by Rev. J.C.A. Helfenstein, a clergyman of the German Reformed denomination, protesting the gay party life during the Revolution. Sent to The Lancaster Assembly, a publication subscribed to by prominent Lancastrians.

Founded in Jan. 1842, by Charles J. Peterson, this women's magazine included serial installments, short stories, poems, patterns, publisher's notes, and book reviews. Among its contributors were Mrs. Ann S. Stephens and Emily H. May Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
This collection consists of calendars containing photographs, drawings, and prints from Lancaster County and the surrounding region. Some depict local culture, architecture, historic sites, events, or have Pennsylvania Dutch sayings. There are also backs of calendars containing information about Lancaster.
