Newspaper advertisement. "Balloons, made to order, and directions furnished how to use them, so that an ordinary handy person can make a successful ascension, by Prof. John Wise. Wise's Balloon Manufactory, 1951 N. Eleventh St., Philadelphia. Balloon Ascensions made for Agricultural Fairs, 4th of July Celebrations, Etc., by Prof. John Wise (oldest aeronaut in the world), Master John Wise (youngest aeronaut in the world, 14 years old), Lizzie Ihling (niece of Prof. Wise) an accomplished air sailor, Mr. Chas. E. Wise (Aeronautical Engineer). Persons suffering from chronic and mrobid disorders taken up to inhale pur air under diminished pressure. This advertisement was found in a Virginia pine case for carrying a surveyor's compass. Information data of this kind is very useful and extremely difficult to find. (from page 102, "Early American Copper, Tin & Brass" Henry J. Kauffman)

This scrapbook consists of photographs, postcards, newspaper clippings and other ephemera glued to pages of a 6.5 x 8.25 inch composition notebook with lined pages. Not all pages are used. Cover is grey and is labeled "Roberts & Meck's Seaboard Composition Book, 36 Leaves Writing Paper, Roberts & Meck, Harrisburg, Pa."
