Henry expressing unhappiness over James Buchanan Henry’s treatment of him; asking for advice on whether to transfer from the navy to the marines when Congress passes the bill creating the Marine Corps; war here has not changed much; being on aboard ship for extended periods of time is boring; would like to see Ann [Dawes] again; hoping to go to Hong Kong soon; thinks highly of Admiral Dewey; complains about the delay in receiving news from home; Cadet Seaton will return to Annapolis and will stay at James Buchanan Henry’s hotel. Envelope with postmarks and stamp S. S. Charleston Sailor’s Letter W H Whiting, Captain, U. S. Navy Commanding, evidence of stamp addressed to J.
