Description
Liberty Bell pendant medallion with Independence Hall on the back. Outline of bell has contoured image of Liberty Bell with inscription, crack and clapper. Inscription at top reads "OF LEV XXV&X PROCLAIM / IN PHILDA. BY ORDER OF TH--" and below this is "PASS AND STOW / PHILADA. / MDCCLIII."
Back is flat with a raised image of Independence Hall. Extended tab at top has hole with two linked wire rings for hanging.

Description
Two-piece bronze medal; top piece marked "ORGANIZED MARCH 4TH / 1874." Bottom piece marked "THE CRESCENT / BALTIMORE." Chain on right side has been damaged, lower piece attached with thread, right side. See object file for additional information.
Note: With no other markings, research indicates this may be from the sixteenth GAR encampment held at Baltimore in 1882.
Provenance
The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was founded 1866 and received a national charter in 1874. The sixteenth national encampment took place in Baltimore, Maryland, June 21-22, 1882.
Part of a group of five items related to an unknown veteran of the 126th New York Volunter Infantry Regiment.

Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) medal consisting of bronze eagle at top, flag ribbon in center, and bronze five-pointed star at bottom. Locking clasp on back of eagle. Reverse marked: "PAT. MAY 4, 1886 / June 22, 1883."
