Swarr transmitting his approval of the merger of the two Presbyterian churches, his gratitude upon receiving a large piece of beef from friends, his hope that the Lecompton Constitution will be defeated, his appreciation to “the Democracy & my own County of Lancaster” for their support, and his surprise at the “power of endurance bestowed upon me by a kind Providence” in handling Presidential matters, important and unimportant.
