Birth & baptismal certificate on laid paper. Printed form with central textblock in German within a multiple line border. Infilled and decorated around textblock by Speyer; cross-legged angel at top, pelicans feeding young at sides and flowers at sides and bottom. Watercolors are red, blue, yellow, green and brown.
Infilled for Johannes, son of Valiendein (Valentine) and Eliesabetha (Elisabetha) Bohmer of Brecknock Township in Lancaster Co., born Dec. 13, 1788.
Georg Friederich Speyer (active 1774-1801) used this printed form produced c. 1789 by Barton & Johnson of Reading. See Notes.
General wear with numerous creases and wrinkles; one pronounced vertical centerline crease. Repaired tears, esp at left edge. All edges are ragged and uneven, esp. at right.
Conserved by CCAHA in 1989 (see report in file). Hinged into window mat & back mat. Relaced in its original frame using UF-3 Plexiglas and acid-free cardboard on reverse with a taped mylar dust shield.

A) Walnut dove-tailed case with hinged lid with bail handle. Hook and eye closure at front. Interior is divided into five slots, lined in purple velvet. Lid contains brown paper label written in cursive, "S.R. Slaymaker's / original sample case / 1888"
Contents includes 5 locks of varying sizes and styles with cutaways on 2 largest, several of them marked "Pat. 1888" (B-F) and 2 keys (G,H)
Case has minor marring, stains and soil. Back of case has adhesive residue in rectangular shape. Velvet has wear and fading. Locks have expected wear, esp. paint finish.
Finely crafted miniature copper teakettle with tinned interior. Classic late 18th-early 19th c. kettle shape with round body, goose neck spout, hinged arched handle and fitted domed lid with globular knop.
Keyed/dovetail joint at back side. Handle attached to riveted tabs with elongated tomahawk bases. Fits in oval tin box G.00.03.2.

Ownership by donor's father, William A. Heitshu. Donor believes she was told teakettle was a salesman's sample.
Leather multi-compartment Wallet. Some remnants of a red printed logo on interior flap. Contained the Civil War discharge papers of William Sweigart, Private, 195th Regiment.
Painting: Oil on linen, 5 tears in canvas middle mid center, repaired with duct tape, Poor/Fair, crackling throughout, paint loss throughout with previous inpainting (5%).
Pennsylvania Long Rifle; percussion cap; curly maple stock; iron barrel stamped "H. GIBBS" on top of barrel. Brass fittings and patch box. Some rust on iron and brass parts. Approximately .40 caliber muzzle. 44" barrel with an overall length of 61 inches.

Henry Gibb Sr. and his son Henry Gibb were Lancaster City gunsmiths active for most of the nineteenth century. The father from 1812 until 1843 and the son from 1843 until 1880.
