White porcelain plate with 1" pink border and narrow gold outline at edge. A half-inch-wide band of gold encircles central painted landscape with a dismounted rider wearing top hat and riding gear standing with horse and nearby barking dog.
Bottom inscription is: "Feuillet rue de la paix no. 20."
Hairline crack across center of nearly entire plate. Overpainting on inner and outer bands of gold and probably the pink border at center left and right of scene. Pink paint is cracking and lifting at left. Chip at right side (3:00 o'clock) with lifting pink paint on underside of edge. Underside has dulled and darkened areas under both sides of rim where crack extends, indicating overpainting.

Notes
The Feuillet studio was at 18, Rue de la Paix, advantageously located for the wealthy denizens of the area to come visit and make purchases. The Prince of Conde gave Feuillet his protection, thus assuring a constant flow of high-end clients. Feuillet's design atelier reached its apex in the mid-1820s, lavishly decorating some of the most remarkable plates of the time. The combination of rich paste gilding, saturated border colors and meticulous fruit or floral still life paintings made the factory's output one of the favorite choices, other than Sevres, for purchase by the new French Regime. According to the book "Paris Porcelain" by Regine de Plinval de Guillebon, "Feuillet was one of the best decorators in the Restauration period," (Paris Porcelain, page 244).

The plate was not made in London as one mark suggests. The love mark was used over a long period of time, ca. 1750-1840, and by a succession of Philadelphia pewterers.
Walnut side chairs featuring intricately carved scroll design on the cresting rail. A solid splat extends through the center of the back and joins a horizontal member above the rear seat rail. The front of the skirt is plain with a serpentine shape surmounting fully formed Louis XV cabriole legs with floral motif carvings at the top. Upholstered seat originally had leather; current seat cover is black fabric.
Vase splat chair, back top rail is faced with a crotch-grain mahogony veneer and is a wide concave cross member with rounded ends, a rolled cresting and scroll-cut lower edge. The top is supported by plain rounded uprights that are a continuation of the square rear legs that have a backward saber curve.

One of a pair of Empire side chairs (with 2013.008.21) with yellow upholstered seat and cherry wood frame. Elements of entire frame are flat with rounded fronts. Back uprights have slight cyma curve, surmounted by a long, wide concave tablet. Tablet has low relief foliate carved ends while most of face is covered with a panel of mahogany veneer. Tablet extends beyond back uprights. Horizontal splat at center of back is pierced carved with a central rectangle flanked by half-moon carved shells, and is then supported by paired, loosely scrolled lyre-like "legs" that attach to chair posts. Trapezoid seat. Front legs have a slight cyma curve.
