Description
Framed oil on canvas on panel portrait. Half-length seated figure is a woman, said to be Mrs. John Gundaker Brenner according to great aunt of donor. Facing left, head slightly to front. Blue eyes. Dotted net cap w/ ruffles around face & small bow at left ear. Wearing a necklace. Long-sleeved dark dress w/ surplice (cross-over) white collar extends below waist in front. Left hand holds book/Bible on lap. Red chair back visible to right. Plain background. Has 5"-wide gilt frame.

Descent through family: To Ella Louisa Brenner Brenneman, granddaughter of subjects; to her niece Mrs. Laura C. Burks; bought at auction by Mrs. Henry C. Snowden (Elizabeth Brenner Snowden), a cousin of Mrs. Brenneman; to Mrs. Richard R. Murray (Marjorie Snowden), her daughter; to donor and gr. granddaughter of Mrs. Snowden and great-niece of Mrs. Murray.

Eichholtz travelled to Boston in 1811-12 to study with accomplished portrait artist, Gilbert Stuart. This travel was sponsored by Rev. Thomas Barton, rector of St. James Episcopal Church. Barton also commissioned this copy of Stuart's portrait of Washington.

Description
Framed oil on canvas portrait on panel; male figure, said to be John Gundaker Brenner (1808-1879/80) according to great aunt of donor. Body faces slightly right, head turned slightly to left. Brown hair parted on his left with wisps brushed forward onto forehead and onto left temple; long sideburns. Blue eyes. White collar and stock, light waistcoat, dark jacket has high, wide collar and double row of 8 brass buttons. Plain light background. Has 5"-wide gilded frame.

Moderate craquelure overall except for smooth 2"-wide strip bordering all four sides. Paper sticker on back states: "Rebacked and restored" in 1937 by Hannah Mee Horner, Upper Darby, PA. Gilt frame has strong wear to gilding. Miter joints do not close completely.
Ptg. secured in frame with copper strips at corners.

Description
Pastel-colored photo portrait mounted on canvas frame. A ("Denison Mfg. Co. U.S.A.) tag is attached to the back of the canvas. The following is written in cursive using black ink: "Margaret Elizabeth Dietrich/ Born April 8, 1831/ Married to Henry Gottlieb Lipp/ Oct. 8, 1854/ Died June 9, 1923."
Mrs. (Dietrich) Lipp faces the viewer. Her dark brown hair is parted in the center and pulled back. She has blue eyes and wears gold wire spectacles. She wears gold circle earrings in her pierced ears. Black clerical-type collar has decorative trim along top edge and edge of white collar next to her neck is visible. Her black dress is tucked in the front with decorative vertical embellishments, two bands/strips on either side. Sleeve caps are puffy.
The piece is not framed.

Description
Pastel-colored photo portrait of (Georg J.) "John" Obreiter on canvas frame. Mr. Obreiter looks to the viewer's left. His gray hair is parted on the left. He has blue eyes and a gray moustache. His shirt is white; tie, suit coat and vest are black.
Written in pencil on back upper left: "Gray Hair/ Eyes Blue/ Mustache Gray Mixed/ Complexion Fair/ Suit Dark." In center of canvas:"Pastell"
Georg Johann "John" Obreiter was born 10 May 1842 in German; and died 12 Aug 1926 in Lancaster, PA. He was married in Lancaster in 1866 to Elizabeth ("Betsey") Isenberger, a Lancaster native.
On right side of wooden frame on back: "Mrs. Obreiter, Maretta (sic) Ave."
