Letter from Jasper Yeates to his wife, Sarah in which he described the journey by stagecoach from Lancaster to Lancaster with their young grandson, Yeates. Jasper knew that his wife wanted to hear how their grandson fared on the journey to Philadelphia-if he slept, how he behaved, and what he ate-and that he was back with his family in Philadelphia.

Second of two Diffenderfer family albums. Compiled by Frank Reid Diffenderfer, a former member of LCHS and an editor of a Lancaster city newspaper. Album documents his family as well as that of his neighbors on North Duke Street, Lancaster, beginning in 1903. Neighbors include Charles Fondersmith, Robert Slaymaker, and his daughter, Ida, who married Frank Fondersmith.

Letter from son Joseph to J. B. Henry detailing his duties as surgeon for American soldiers; the climate is fine except for the flies and mosquitoes; the diseases are the same as in Cuba but less severe; Colonel Pettit faced court martial but was acquitted in a strange way for killing an insurecto to protect superiors; the colonel said that James Buchanan Henry met Mrs. Pettit in Switzerland; apologizes for not seeing Jamiet; and asks that James Buchanan Henry use his influence to have the volunteer army commission changed to regular army commission when the present system ends in 1901. Envelope with five postmarks with printed return address: War Department, Post Zamboanga Mindanao addressed to Hon. J. Buchanan Henry, care F P. [F__ ] & Co, 43 Exchange Pla, New York City, United States of America forwarded to Island Harbor House, Hague, Lake George, NY. Zamboanga, Mindanao, Philippine Islands.

Henry welcoming him back from his travels; recounting her brief encounter with Rob in Jersey City; Reggie will join Rob for a trip; the Ewings and Alice’s family enjoyed being in New York; Jack is now in Camp Vicars with Captain Pershing (his great friend); both were not injured when picked up by a tornado and tossed forty feet; Jack is living with Colonel Pettit and family; hopes she and James Buchanan Henry can secure a permanent position for Jack nearer home; and recounts the unhappy marriage of Henry Randall.
