This collection contains patents issued to inventors in Lancaster County. The patents have the technical information about the invention and also drawings and/or blueprints. Some of the patents are for a horse hay rake, pinions, a railroad car brake, and improvements in threshing machines, balancing mill stones, kitchen slicing utensils and a still. Two of the documents are signed by Secretary of State Henry Clay and President Andrew Jackson.
The Diffenderffer Family Papers collection contains items that have been passed down through generations of the Diffenderffer family. Deeds for tracts of land in New Holland date back to the creation of New Design, the village that preceded New Holland. Correspondence and some manuscripts pertain to J. P. McCaskey's life and accomplishments. F. R. Diffenderffer's manuscripts on Easter Day and Conrad Weiser are preserved with this collection, as well as poems, a program for the C. Elvin Haupt School, and a claim of F. R. Diffenderffer & Co. against the State of Texas.

The Bucher-Ortmann Pharmacy Collection contains memorabilia from the Bucher Pharmacy and Ortmann Pharmacy in Columbia, including an account book and prescription formula books.
Admin/Biographical History
The pharmacy began with the Bucher family in 1895 and continued when Werner Ortmann purchased the business in 1953.
This collection contains records of the Wheatland Diner, including correspondence, advertising, menu, recipe cards, blueprints and documents for the sale of the property. Newspaper articles report the plan for and delivery of the diner ,fires, 1956 fatal accident, problems with teenage customers and the sale of the property.
The Gorman Family Papers contain newspaper articles about Ms. Jennie Gorman and B. F. Gorman's Grocery Store, as well as report cards for George N. LeFevre, Jr.
Menus of local restaurants dating from the mid-nineteenth century show changes in fare and the price of meals. Some menus have tourist or historical information.
The Stevens House Hotel Records include items from the Stevens House Hotel in Lancaster, PA. The hotel was considered one of the most elegant outside of Philadelphia. Two scrapbooks contain board meeting minutes, as well as menus and programs for events that took place at the hotel. The board meeting minutes record the management and modernization of the hotel. Researchers will find an example of how Prohibition affected the local economy. The second book preserves programs from New Year's Eve celebrations, balls and banquets, and class reunions, which contain menus and list entertainment.

The Geist Family Papers include correspondence, tax records, legal documents, and other items related to the Geist family. Some correspondence is personal, while other letters relate to legal proceedings concerning estates and inheritances. A number of wills and associated materials, generally related to adjudications involving family members. Numerous local tax notices and federal income tax returns largely pertain to Daniel W. and Bertha W. Geist. Other materials include notebooks and receipts from Daniel W. Geist's time at Millersville State Normal School, visiting cards, and newspaper clippings.

The Lancaster County Monumental Association Records date from 1871 to 1979. The organization's constitution, charter and by-laws are included in the collection, as well as invoices for repairs to the monument. The meeting minutes record the official proceedings of the association. Discussion and debate on whether the monument should be moved from its current spot is also well-documented.

The Daniel Reiber Collection contains the personal papers of Martin Bickham, who married Mme. Emilie Raymonde Adeline Eugenie Rivalz de St. Antoine in 1805. Many of the documents and letters are in French, some have been translated into English. There is genealogy tracing lines of the McCamant, Jenkins, McCaa, and Andes families from 1722-1942. Obituaries, correspondence with the McCaa family, and deeds for the Caernarvon Cemetery are among other items in the collection.
