Henry welcoming him back from his travels; recounting her brief encounter with Rob in Jersey City; Reggie will join Rob for a trip; the Ewings and Alice’s family enjoyed being in New York; Jack is now in Camp Vicars with Captain Pershing (his great friend); both were not injured when picked up by a tornado and tossed forty feet; Jack is living with Colonel Pettit and family; hopes she and James Buchanan Henry can secure a permanent position for Jack nearer home; and recounts the unhappy marriage of Henry Randall. Henry expressing joy that he and Margaret are enjoying Italy and hopes to visit someday; had a family reunion in Washington with Aunt Lena, the girls, Frank, Sid, and Reg; met a friend at the Pittsburgh railroad station; in Cambridge to check of the small railroad shop; the drought has reduced the streams so much that the water is not suitable for the engines; hopes for a mild winter to aid in running the engines; Jean and Rob are settled in their apartment which Sid finds cozy; and is attending a “stag” party thrown by a good customer of the railroad and will be attended by “big bugs” such as the mayor.
