Removed from endpaper a note by Edward Young Buchanan calculating the length of his marriage to his “darling wife A E.” 31 October 1875-7 April 1891.

Custodial History
The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.

Civil War veteran badge, Grand Army of the Republic. Button pin with G.A.R. emblem on top. "In Memoriam / Brandywine / Post No. 54 / Coatesville, PA." Black with silver border and gold letters.
Civil War veteran badge, Grand Army of the Republic. Pin at top has eagle and crossed rifles. Connects to shield-shaped piece with martial scene: "28 Nat'l Encampment. G. A. R. / Pittsburgh, PA. / Sep. 1894".

Civil War veteran badge, Grand Army of the Republic. Top pin has text, "Pittsburgh". Red, white, and blue cloth connects to bottom piece, which is shaped like a keystone. It has the G.A.R. star on it and the text: "28th Natl. / Encampment / G. A. R. / Sept. 1894".
