Transcription of letter from Thaddeus Stevens to Col. Blanchard stating that he had to return to Pennsylvania for business and regretted that he was not able to meet with the Juvenile Society. John Herr's Mill. In bygone days this scene was very common as farmers brought grain to the John Herr Mill in wagons pulled by horses. The grain wa shoisted to the upper floor by rope and pulley.
