Description
Vertol Aircraft Corporation, Morton, Pa. New Vertol 44 helicopter, largest certified for civilian use, is shown in flight over manin plant of the manufacturer, Vertol Aircraft Corporation, at Morton, Pa. the tandem-rotor aircraft carries up to nineteen passengers and comes in three verstions; the cargo-utility model, the airliner version and the executive transport. Licensed by the Civil Aeronautics Administration last April, the Model 44 is the most recent of a series of tandem-rotor helicopter designs that have accumulated more than 400,000 hours of flight for military services in the United States and abroad.

Description
Vertol Aircraft Corporation, Morton, Pa. The new Vertol 44 helicopter eases a 4115-pound piece of machinery preciesely into its wooden chocks in a demonstration of brute lifting power and feather-light postitioning. this feat was the high point of a display of the helicopter's utility put on for petroleum industry officials. the machine is part of a slush pump designed by National Supply Company to be dissassembled for helicopter transport in areas where other forms of transportation are difficult or impossible. In the backgroudn is an earlier Vertol Model 42, one of hundres operated around the world by U. S. armed services and known by the military designation as H-21.

On the welcoming committee are: Walt ALston, manager, left, Don Newcombe, pitcher, right and Jackie Robinson, second from right. Hodges' hit proved to be enought as the Brooks beat the Yankees 6 - 3.

Brooklyn, NY: Even a king-sized victory stogie can't hide the ear-to-ear smile on the face of little Sandy Amoros after Brooklyn clinched the pennant here Sept. 30th. Sandy, who was the "goat" when he dropped a fly ball a couple of days earlier, blasted two homers as the Brooks beat Pittsburgh, 8 - 6, to nail down their 10th National League pennant.
