The communion flag with the strap handle was made by a German craftsman, and was used by the congregation of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaser, Pennsylvania, until additional ones were made by Heyne. Heyne's use of an English handle created a problem in placing the thumbpiece, but he made a rather clever adaptation. The handl, of course, is a tankard type and is too small for the flagon. The feet of cherub's heads are a typical Germanic procedure. The bottom was made from Heyne's mold for six inch plates.
