Provenance
Black paper album and loose photographs of Ambulance Company No. 3 during training at Camp Hancock, Augusta Georgia, in France during World War I, and as veterans after the war. Album is very fragile. Donated by Mrs. Charles Fasnacht, daughter of George Walzl. With album is a brief history of the company and list of known living members as of 1981.

Newspaper photo from the Daily Intelligencer, Friday, March 16, 1945. Leo Houck, recently returned from a trip to Greenland and labrador with the Special Services Division, is shown here teaching Sgt. George Gardner some of the fine points of boxing in one of the camps in Labrador. Leo is now on another assignment with the Special Services.

Description
This collection contains ephemera related to Julius J. "Jule" Ritchey of Lancaster and his career as a middleweight boxer.
Admin/Biographical History
Julius J. "Jule" Ritchey was born in 1895 in Lancaster's Cabbage Hill neighborhood. During his career as a middleweight boxer, he fought 75 bouts, won 65 of them and had 4 KOs. He fought alongside local contemporaries Leo Houck, Rosey Stoy, and Tim Droney. He trained in various places around the world, including Havana, Cuba. Ritchey later worked from Armstrong until he retired in 1960. He died 9 January 1983 in Lancaster.
