Piece of wooden water pump found at West Orange Street and Water Street.
Similar to "Cross section of early wooden water mains used to supply hydrants" pictured on page 56 of book entitled Our Volunteer Firemen by Donald L. Collins, 1982.
2 Wooden pegs for a clothes rail that was inside the Lydia Hamilton Smith house.
Handwritten note in file reads "Pegs for clothes rail, from / the attic of the Lydia Smith House / 23 E. Vine St. Lancaster."
May have been found at the same time as baluster 2022.999.006. See note in catalog record from email exhange with Barry Rauhauser - Object most likely found during the construction of the hotel and convention center or maybe even later. I remember we did spend a day there cleaning up the site, and maybe it was something we found during the cleanup day.

Fragment from James Buchanan's tomb in Woodward Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. Rectangular base with relief carving of three oak leaves on one short branch with an acorn on top. White marble. On back: paper with handwritten ink: 'a piece of waste marble from (the?) Tomb of Hon. James Buchanan.

Piece of lining from President Buchanan's inaugural coat
Description
A 3.25 in x 4 in piece of red, finely woven fabric (may be cotton -- no sheen) attached with scotch tape. Typed below: This piece of lining is from President Buchanan's inaugural coat, made by Charles B. Fisher, a tailor, in 1857, Lancaster, Pa.
In ink on cardboard back: Presented 4/8/54 by a relative.
Red fabric is mounted on thin white paper. Two pieces of browned scotch tape holding top corners, damaging fabric. Stain from tape is visible on the back side of the white paper. Acidic cardboard on back. Needs to be conserved.
Between sheet with fabric and cardboard on back is a wedding photo of a Marine in uniform with his bride.
Inexpensive black frame with metal bendable tabs to secure.

Black lace fabric skirt flounce. 4.5 in slightly gathered detached flounce. All black with 2 fabric is 14in wide with 11 bias seams attaching pieces arund entire piece: 156in around loop. A portion of this flounce has scalloped lace edging on the gathered edge indicating this flounce was on the outside of the skirt. Much of the lower lace edging is detached. Upper edge lace is misisng on most of this piece. Fabric in good condition. Attachment to lace is fragile. Safety pin removed rolled for storage. May belong to skirt 1989.005.6.
