The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
Letter from James Buchanan to Edward H. Pendleton acknowledging receipt of his note and accompanying music. In the folder is a sheet containing portraits of Zachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan which were published in London. Wheatland, near Lancaster.

Cabinet card. Allen Richards, born March 24, 1812, died December 8, 1869. Married Catherine Caroline Bowman on December 19, 1839. Reprint of an earlier photograph.

Gift of Edward B. Casson in memory of Celest Eckman Casson
Cabinet card. Major Edward Bates Eckman in military uniform with fancy mustache. He was born August 7, 1856, died January 13, 1925. He married Mary Elizabeth Richards on November 30, 1881. He was superintendent of the St. Charles Furnace and served in the Spanish-American War.

Cabinet card. Mabel M. Hess. Infant in white gown on a chair covered with a tapestry. She was the daughter of Jacob W. Hess and Susan Lawrence Hess. She died 20 March 1919. "Mabel M. Hess died 1919" written on back.
Cabinet card. "Aunt Eliza Shenk and cousin Elam" written on back. Eliza A. Shenk Hess and her nephew, Elam G. Hess, son of Henry W. Hess and Elizabeth F. Good Hess.
