Carte de visite of Lydia Hamilton Smith. Note written on back: "This is the picture of Lydia Smith, the housekeeper of Thaddeus Stevens. It was given to me by Mrs. L. Kerfoot Eschbach, who knew her, and was also thoroughly identified by Dr. R. M. Bolenius and Mrs. Bolenius."
Frances H. Haldeman was a daughter of Prof. S. S. Haldeman and his wife, Mary. She was born in 1854 and died on October 20, 1904. Frances married Henry S. Staffer on November 23, 1885 and they had no children.
