Military band playing for soldiers during their return to the United States during World War I.
Provenance
Black paper album and loose photographs of Ambulance Company No. 3 during training at Camp Hancock, Augusta Georgia, in France during World War I, and as veterans after the war. Album is very fragile. Donated by Mrs. Charles Fasnacht, daughter of George Walzl. With album is a brief history of the company and list of known living members as of 1981.
Large crowd gathered in city, location unknown. Many are in military uniform or in band uniform.
Provenance
Photographs from MG-63, the Johnny Hauck Collection. Hauck was a local boxing historian and brother of noted local boxer Leo Hauck. The Haucks grew up in Lancaster's Cabbage Hill neighborhood and were known as all-around athletes.
Twelve women with usher sashes on standing on stage, each one holding an award. Album with gold writing stating: "Army-Navy "E" Award Ceremonies, The Slaymaker Lock Company, Lancaster, PA, March 14,1945"
