Note on bottom of picture: "Lancaster residence -1752- of Edward Shippen - Mayor of Philadelphia 1744; buried in St. James Church-yard, Lancaster, Pa., 1781--His grand-daughter, Mary Shippen Burd, married Peter Grubb II, Ironmaster,Cornwall, Pa., Grand-father of Clement B. Grubb."
