At 2.5" high, glass tapers to narrow neck with .375-inch opening. Base is 1/2 oval in shape, with opposite side flat for .875 of an inch. At top of flat edge are two figures in relief. Along one side there are marked levels for 10 & 20 cc's. On the other side, 1, 2, 2.5 and 3.
Little brown glazed, pot-bellied earthenware jug with applied strap handle. Sits on small foot ring, has cove neck and pronounced lip. Inscribed with pencil on bottom is "Made at Sam Brown Potrey / Rock Springs, MD / about 1840 / Lizzie S. ?? / Book".
Height does not include cork; width includes handle.

Portion of handle broken off and mended. Handle has strong chipping along left side and one chip on right. Glazing only covers part of foot ring; non under base. Edge of foot ring has strong wear/ some chipping. Top of cork is broken off.
