Summary
Papers filed for construction and repair of bridges. The types of petitions presented to the Court of Quarter Sessions include: petitions for bridge construction and repair, petitions for inspections, and petitions for bridge funds. Other types of items include: specifications, proposals, and contracts for bridge construction and repair; bridge blueprints and plans; correspondence; bills for materials; and bridge condition reports. Many papers show date; court term and case number; names of petitioners, viewers, inspectors, and contractors; costs and fees; location of bridge; and name or number of bridge. The order and report of viewers documents are of particular interest as they usually include a copy of the original petition; the order and names of viewers to inspect the site; the public announcement for the viewers meeting; the report and recommendation of viewers, often with a drawing of the site and surrounding area; and the court decision.

Summary
Election returns listing names of candidates and number of votes cast for each, mostly in township and borough elections held in the spring. Officials elected include supervisors, constables, justices of the peace, school directors, assessors, auditors, clerks, and election officials. A few county-wide elections for auditors, commissioners, directors of the poor, and county surveyor are also represented, as are ballot results from various townships in the 1840s on the question of whether or not to establish a school system. Also includes a few tally sheets for elections, petitions for redress or appointment when election results were questioned or tied, oaths of election officials and those elected, lists of voters, and certificates of election. Arranged chronologically, then alphabetically by municipality. Handwritten, and (beginning in 1840) handwritten on printed forms.

Summary
Loose papers consisting of writs summoning the presence of persons to serve as jurors in the Court of Common Pleas, showing name, occupation, and residence of person summoned; the date the names were drawn; and the date of the court session at which they were to serve. Attached are court orders which authorize the drawing of jurors, and show the name of the judge, prothonotary, and sheriff. Thirty-six to sixty jurors are listed on each venire. Also includes "A list ... of every person placed in the Jury Wheel for the year A.D. 1876," and some doctors' excuses for infirm potential jurors. Arranged by filing date, which is on or immediately after the court date. Handwritten, and handwritten on printed forms.
