Custodial History
The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.

Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper has a scrolling banner with the printed info "NORBECK & MILEY,/ FIRST-CLASS CARRIAGE BUILDERS, Duke & Vine Sts, Lancaster, Pa." all superimposed over a spray of flowers. To left is a man in early to mid 19th c. clothing holding perhaps a crossbow and pausing at a fence to look back over his shoulder.
Reverse side is blank.
Generally good with minor brownish stain at left and upper sides of front. Also red staining at lower right corner. Reverse has dark stains from brush-on adhesive.
Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper has color lithographed strawberry vines with blossoms and fruit surrounding a white block with a printed message: "D.T. HESS,/ CARRIAGE FACTORY,/ A full stock on hand at all times,/ Quarryville, Lancaster Co. Pa."
Reverse is blank.

Generally good condition with minor age darkening.
Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper has lithographed pink flowers on peach-colored background. Above right is printed "Compliments of/ W.A. Halbach."
Reverse side is printed with name, address and line of stock. Halbach is a job pritner.
Generally good condition with multiple small surface losses and abrasions on front. Reverse has minor stain at lower left side.
Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper with a lithographed basket of flowers. Printed at top is "COMPLIMENTS OF S. H. ZAHM & CO./ LANCASTER, PA."
Reverse has printed name, address and line of stock. Zahm's is a "New and Second-Hand Book Store."
Generally good condition with minor surface losses at top center of litho'd side. Reverse has moderate blotchy stains.
Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper with color lithography of top-hatted man driving a carriage with a team of two black horses. Printed message at upper right is "Go to SHIRK'S Carpet Hall/ FOR FINEST DISPLAY OF/ Brussels, Ingrain, Rag & Chain/ Carpets, Window Shades, Oil Cloths, etc."
Reverse is blank.
Generally good condition with minor soil.
Dated late 19th to early 20th c. Printer/Designer unknown.
Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper has keystone shape. Full color litho depicts woman in 19th c. garb holding a parasol in the form of a watch case while sun smiles down from above. Verse below reads: "SHE HOLDS IT LIKE A PARASOL,/ WITH ALL A WOMAN'S GRACE;/ SHE GLANCES UP TO SEE THE TIME,/ THROUGH THE KEYSTONE OPEN FACE." Remainder of space has various panels filled with printed advertisement for Keystone jewelry. At bottom is "HARRY SUTTON,/ JEWELER/" over address and "Boss and Keystone Cases a Specialty."
Printed "GF" within border at bottom right (maker).
Reverse has advertisement for Keystone Coin watchcases describing the merits.

Reverse has printed advertisement for his watches, chains and clocks, etc. as well as spectacles and eye glasses.
