Joseph "Big Joe" McGinnis, former heavyweight champion of the Maritimes. Former chief of police for town of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He ruled the town with an iron hand and showed no fear nor facor. Born Sydney, Nova Scotia Sept. 25, 1887. Died Jan. 31, 1946 of cancer. "To Johnny from Earle with best wishes April 22, 1957."
