During the ceremony, General L. L. Lemnitzer, Commander-in-Chief, United Nations and Far East Commands, awarded Maj, Gen. Strickler the frist Oak Leaf Cluster to his Legion of Merit in recognition of his outstanding services to UNC/FEC since his arrival in January 1956. The ceremony marked Maj. Gen. Strickler's release from active military service, having reached the statutory age for termination of active duty. He will continue in a civilian capaity as a consultant commander in Japan. Clyde R. Gehman, with jeep. Graduated with honors from Army Ordinance School, was a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the 64th Truck Battalion's Headquarters and Service Battery during the Korean War. He also worked as an automotive partsman for Lancaster Lincoln Mercury. He was from Rothsville.
