Description: This collection contains documents beginning with the American Revolution and continuing through the War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. There are account books, notes and written letters, vouchers, inspections of camps, receipts of payments, honorable discharge certificates, lists of absentees, envelopes used during the Civil War, and lists of unpaid fines during the service of the Pennsylvania Militia soldiers. There are also newsletters and articles relating to World Wars I and II and the Korean War for advertisement and description of items including the history of the Philadelphia Naval Base.

Title: Lebkicher Family Civil War Letters and Discharge Papers

Description: Lebkicher Family Civil War Letters and Discharge Papers contain letters from Lebkicher family members before and during the Civil War. There are discharge papers for Jonah R. Duke and William H. Lebkicher who enlisted with Captain J. Miller Raub's Company D, 122nd Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in August 1862. William (1846-1929) re-enlisted and his letters continue to 1865. Some of the letters concern transportation by train and subsequent wrecks and derailments, the rioting in Lancaster, the shortage of food and feed for animals, and the soldiers getting used to the shelling of their camp by the rebels. The majority of letters were written during the Civil War.

Description: The Civil War Collection consists of material acquired over many years from different sources. Title: Henry Seiger's Civil War Letters

Description: This collection contains four letters from Henry Seiger to Anna Roland in Marietta, Pennsylvania and one letter in German that was either to or from Anna Roland. Henry Seiger was in the 12th Pennsylvania Reserve Regiment, which was also known as the 41st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He served in Company D, the Kepner Fencibles, under the command of Captain Samuel Wilt. Folder 1 contains the transcriptions, Folder 2 contains the original letters.

Title: Denues Family Papers

Description: The Denues Family Papers contain documents related to the professional and military career of Charles Denues, as well as information about the Denues family. This collection also contains Civil War era items, including a $20 South Carolina note, and a presidential ticket from the 1864 election.

Admin/Biographical History: Charles Denues was born on 28 August 1923 in Shrewsbury Pennsylvania. He married Fannie Haines on 21 August 1859, and the couple had 8 children. Before enlisting to fight with the Union Army, Denues was a lawyer and a school teacher. In 1862 he enlisted, and became captain of the 135th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, Company E on 12 August 1862. On 24 May 1863 he was honorably discharged with the rest of his company.

Admin/Biographical History: Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette (1757-1834), better known in America as Lafayette, was a French aristocrat and military officer who fought in the Revolutionary War. He commanded American troops in several battles, including the siege of Yorktown. He visited Lancaster County in July of 1825.

Description: Series 1 of the Harold Morrin Collection contains correspondence from Harold Morrin to his mother, Mrs. Hilda M. Morrin, in Millersville, during World War II. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was discharge in 1946. In these letters, he writes about army life; traveling in the United States, England, and France; and his social life.

Admin/Biographical History: Harold Morrin served in the U. S. Army during World War II, from 1943-1946. "He was a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and was active in the local civic community. He was the past president of the following: Lancaster County Philatelic Society, Lancaster County Bird Club, North Museum Associates and Lancaster Chapter of Administrative Management Society, Millersville Borough Council, and vice president of Lancaster County Boroughs Association. He was Past Director of the Tanger Arboretum, the Lancaster County Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Lancaster County Elementary Envirothon. He also was past board member of the National Association of Accountants. Harold was active in Boy Scouts of America with Troop 45. Description: This collection gives information on the activities of the 200th celebration of the American Revolution in the Lancaster area. Folders 32 to 41 cover the celebration in Greater Lancaster. Folders 42 to 51 touch upon the activities of Lititz, Solanco, Lampeter-Strasburg, Elizabethtown, Cocalico, Columbia, New Holland, Pequea Valley, Washington Boro, Penn Manor, Millersville, and Marietta. The collection contains minutes, programs, photos, financial vouchers and newspaper clippings, audio tapes. The six volumes that make up the Bicentennial Celebration, April 1971- February 1977 scrapbooks are a compilation of published materials such as newspaper articles, magazine articles, broadsides, brochures and pamphlets. The materials relay information about the actions of the Lancaster County Bicentennial Committee including meetings, mailings and events. The committee chose the "Hands of Liberty" theme for the committee and upcoming celebration. The theme was present on every mailing sent out by the committee and can be found on most of the materials within the scrapbooks.
