These are papers filed in equity proceedings, a process where the court, not a jury, makes the final decision and issues a decree, usually resulting in someone taking action or forbidden from taking action. The types of documents include notes of testimony, petitions, bills in equity, and decrees. Early equities were filed with the NARRS or Appearance files.

One hardbound volume that contains records of petitions for citizenship of 19 immigrants. Each entry tells where the petitioner formerly resided, current residence, where and when he entered the United States, when he came to Lancaster County, and who supported him in the petition. Handwritten.
In this same volume is the Appearance Docket for the Court of Common Pleas Nov. Term 1779 - May Term 1789. This is a duplicate of the Appearance Docket found in RG 01-00 2303-125.

The Mayor's Court was established at the incorporation of the City of Lancaster in 1818, and was composed of the mayor, recorder, and aldermen with powers and jurisdiction analogous to the Court of Quarter Sessions of the Peace, Oyer and Terminer, and Jail Delivery. It was abolished on 6 February 1849.
