This group of sixteen letters of unknown ownership and whereabouts were copied on 19 July 1937 by F. A. Henry, American Consulate, Melbourne, Australia. Whether he owned the letters is not clear.

Buchanan thanks Mr. Black for all of his hard work and informs him he is sending this letter with an important dispatch he had sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Mexico. He also informs Mr. Black that Colonel A. J. Atocha will be delivering these things to him, and if asked he should give any advice regarding Mexico to Colonel Atocha. Washington, D.C. 19 January 1847.
