Description
Black, stiff leather hat with a cylindrical crown and circular brim, similar in form to a top hat. A 3.5in wide brim, black on top, painted reddish brown on underside. A piece of paper lines the top of the hat inside. Cuts along edges allow for a good fit. sides of interior are unfinished leather. "H.S." is painted in gold on outside of hat. "1763" on back. On front, "Friendship Hose." Ghosts of painted letters appear above text on front. Seam of brim and crown is painted with a .325in wide gold band.

Box is marked "Stetson" and may not be original to hat.
