The C.A.P. is an Air Force Auxillary formed in 1941 to use civilian aviation in antisubmarine patrol, border patrol and courier work. After the war it turned to more benevolent operations such as search and rescue, and involving young cadets in aviation.

The corporate pilot, Reed Zimmerman and his wife Mildred are standing beside the Cessna. When New Holland Machine Company bought a twin-engine Beechcraft (D-18) in about 1951, they moved their operations to the Lancaster Municipal Airport.
