Rectangular top inset with brown/black leather. Molded edge, straight flat sides. Two longer sides have two drawers, each with two round concave areas with small knobs at center. Four legs with bun-and-cylinder turned feet. Legs taper down to feet with two buns terminating on the smaller bun foot.

Waist-up portrait of James Buchanan, Jr. with brown hair combed back and brushed forward at ear. Wearing dark brown coat, white vest with gold buttons, olive green/aqua tie with gold stick pin with ruby head. The portrait is mounted in a Regency caveto moulded gilt gesso frame with beaded border with projecting corners ornately adorned scrolling foliage patterns with fleur-de-lis patterns. James Buchanan, Jr. was the Private Secretary to the President of the United States.

James Buchanan, Jr. was the first born child to Reverend Edward Young Buchanan and Ann Eliza Foster Buchanan. He served as the Private Secretary to President James Buchanan, his uncle, after his cousin, James Buchanan Henry resigned the position in 1859.

James Buchanan Henry bequeathed this bust to his son, Frank Anderson Henry, who donated it to the James Buchanan Foundation in 1960.

Pink Parisian Gravy Boat with Saucer
Description
a) A white gravy boat (or sauce boat) with bird's head as handle painted gold. Gold-painted band around lip of boat bordered by a wide pink-painted band, which is bordered by another gold-painted band on other side. Tapered base is painted gold as well. The word "Ginger" is written on bottom.
b) Oval-shaped white saucer with a thick pink-painted portion in between two gold-painted lines bordering edge. In center, is a gold-painted starburst surrounded by a gold-painted circle. The word "Ginger" is written on bottom.
May be part of the Parisian Pink china purchased by James Buchanan while serving as the U.S. Secretary of State from the French Ambassador, Louis Adolphe Aimé Fourier, comte de Bacourt.
