Four post mahogany veneer bed owned by James Buchanan. Includes two sets of rails. Originals have carvings on top edge and hold multiple slats. Modern set accommodates modern box spring and mattress with iron supports.
Letter from J. B. Henry to his wife detailing his delay in getting there; got Dody shoes, and tried to visit Cousin Lodi, Fanny Smith, and Fanny Randall; saw Miss Carver and saw her portrait painted by Indigiani; mentions cousins Alice and Anne, Mr. Crawford, and Mrs. Robinette and nieces; goes from Lancaster and Greensburg before returning to Annapolis; and sends best wishes to her parents. Envelope with stamp and postmark addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan, care of Dr. Wm. C. Anderson, Stapleton. Oxford, Pa., Sunday night [15 June].

Henry to Louisa Anderson commenting on her aunt’s letter stating that both mother and child are doing well; sent a letter to a friend enclosing a photograph; the German of Parker was successful and Jessie stayed until late; visited Miss McKenzie and likes her very much; shot a rabbit and partridge; sending her a paper from Orvis in Jacksonville who published part of James Buchanan Henry’s letter; and the economy is so poor that he will not fill any orders but hopes next year will be better. Envelope with postmark addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, Care Dr. W. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Both letter and envelope heavily water damaged rendering parts unreadable. Annapolis, Maryland, [1 November after 1872].
