It provides an eighteenth century play-by-play of Buchanan's life beginning with the Presidential election, travel from Wheatland to Washington, and his inaugural address. There are other articles of national importance regarding the Missouri Compromise and the Supreme Court ruling in the Dred Scott case; Kansas; President Pierce; and George Washington. The local news pertains to the upcoming Connecticut state and local elections. Corner of pages 3 and 4 is missing.
