Hand push-bell. Round base with claw-like design around rounded edge. Tomato-shaped body separated into upper and lower bell by grooved band. Body originally dark blue metallic color with reverse star and 'C' and 'S' scroll pattern. Top has 'stemmed' knob.

To - James Buchanan Foundation DAR in memory of Florence Buchanan Barnes. Mrs. Barnes father was Arthur Buchanan who was a farmer in Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania. Relationship to James Buchanan is unknown.
This red leather lap desk has brass hinges and pressed brass side handles. A brass name plate is centered on the sloped top engraved with the name "Mrs. E. B. Brinckerhoff". Inside under the lid is a red leather document pouch attached to the lid. The sloped base has a felt covered writing surface that folds down. At the top are two square pockets; one to hold pen nibs and the other an inkwell. An oblong-shaped pocket with a wood lid is designed to hold pens.
Rockingham style sugar bowl with lid. White china body with underglaze decor consisting of beige ground with scattered large scrolling yellow leaves edged in gold and occasional small branches with white berries and 3-leaf branch tips. Lower edge of beige ground defined with a thin undulating vine. Gilt highlights, flourishes and edging. Applied handles feature finger ring handles and a domed lid.
Black Japanese box completely lacquered, inside and out, with removable lid (b) and two drawers (c,d) with metal handles that swivel 180 degrees. Top drawer is shallow, bottom drawer is deep. The rounded top front is painted with fine gold pattern, surrounded by gold border.
Various feathers painted on sides. All edges are painted gold. 3 birds painted on top with fine gold lines crossing at angles to create a mesh pattern.

Oblong shaped walnut veneered container with a back-hinged lid, beveled shape raised central flat area carved with egg-bead molding. Brass 8-point star bail handles are on each end; one handle missing. Brass round keyhole escutcheon is centered on the top front façade of the box with egg & bead molding around the base surmounting four flat-bun shaped feet. Interior features two boxes with back hinged lids as storage compartments for tea leaves. In the center is a circular aperture lined with felt holding a star cut glass mixing bowl to blend tea leaves.
Tea Caddy Dark wood with light wood inlay. Hinged lid. Center of box contains scenes of dark skinned men and women in merchant dress-small key hole in front.

Coffepot (A) and lid (B) of blue transfer-printed pearlware. On a pedestal base is an octagonal pear-shaped body flaring back out at recessed rim. Gooseneck spout with cap at tip. High arching handle of C-scrolls. Domed octagonal lid has an octagonal knop/finial and tiny vent hole.
Transfer decoration is a Chinese scene with people, trees, water and pagoda with bridges. Additional decoration at top and base is a filigree-edged band dominated by 3-leafed vine.
Long-handled fork with curved tines. tines are round with pointed ends. Handle is flat with hooked end for hanging. '1860' impressed toward end of handle.
Leaded wine glass with round foot, thickens near stem. Stem is wide near foot and tapers to a narrow shaped stem before slightly flaring wide near base of bowl. Eight faceted. Facets extend up to the bowl of the glass and ends in scallops. Body has slightl flare.
Wood sewing notion with Federal era ball feet supporting a three-tiered spool holder. Each tier is flat on the bottom with rounded top edges, round shape, descend in size. Metal rods on each tier to hold spools. Tiers graduate from large to small and are supported by a ball and ring-turned pedestal; the top tier is the smallest and capped with a pin cushion.

Possibly Willson family. Obtained from the Willson-Rettew estate sale.
Spool holder/dispenser, turned wooden round box with fitted, slightly domed lid. Container is pill-box shape with thin walls. Three holes of graduated size marked "40" "50" and "60" under each. Hole insets of white glass or bakelite. Vertical spindles/dowels meant to hold spools on bottom of inside are missing. Bottom covered with a dark brown, pebbled finish paper.
Fitted lid has painted and/or woodburned design (shells and sea flora?). Box has lacquered natural finish.
Large round paper label pasted to underside depicts three circular medals at center. Above the center one is "NEW YORK 1853."
At top of label is "JOHN CLARK JUNR. & CO./ MILE-END/ GLASGOW." At bottom of label is "BEST SIX CORD SPOOL COTTON/ ON BLACK SPOOLS/ THOMAS RUSSELL/ SOLE AGENT/ FOR THE UNITED STATES."

Collected by Lillian Hollings Kiker, born to Scottish Americans who lived in New Jersey. Born (1912) and lived in New Jersey, last of Egg Harbor, she was active with quilting, sewing, knitting & crocheting. Collection inherited by donor when her mother passed away.
Heavy crazing onlid. Small abrasions overall. Hole inset missing for #40 size hole. Three spindles on interior are broken and missing. Interior dark with oxidation. Paper on bottom has old losses from peeling.

One of two glass wells with metal lids, that fit down into base of the stand; ink well is squat with ten facets around hinged lid that features a petal pattern and finial.
Heavy rectangular iron base with attached ribbing, rectangular slot at one side of base. Curved 'iron' with corrugated ribbing and iron handle. Long hexagonal bar attached to 'iron' with curved iron. Handle: 'Geneva. Ill, Iron: Geneva Hand Flutter' Base:
Brass spoon mold of two parts that mate to allow molten metal to be poured into bowl end of spoon mold via its funnel opening. Squared tangs project on top and bottom of mold at midpoint.
Mold will create spoon with moderately large, oval bowl, round stem and flaring, flattened handle with rounded terminal and raised center ridge on top. Rattail support under bowl.
Open scroll work on rectangular music stand; elaborate lyre-shaped pedal support with two pedals. Three massive legs with ten-faceted tapered legs. Sides of keyboard area scrolled with foliate carving. Around bottom is rope-like molding.

Notes
Jonas Chickering (1798-1853), whose firm made the piano, began his career as a cabinetmaker in Ipswich, New Hampshire. In 1818 at the age of twenty, he went to Boston and apprenticed himself in one of the town's cabinet shops.
