"Ann Gilbert strolling down one of main St. in ghost town Body. Calif. In July 1956. High in the mountains altitude about 9000 ft around seventy five million $$$ in gold and silver taken from this section. Now private owned by a million air who's hobby is ghost towns. 15 people still live there the youngest is 58 years old an all was born there three work an eight hour shift around the clock as watchman, All are Indians. the museum open year around and wonderful for 50c admission." Sent to Johnny Hauck by Dick Gilbert.
Provenance
Photographs from MG-63, the Johnny Hauck Collection. Hauck was a local boxing historian and brother of noted local boxer Leo Hauck. The Haucks grew up in Lancaster's Cabbage Hill neighborhood and were known as all-around athletes.
