Description
Collection of pins and ribbons of fraternal societies where Myers or perhaps his father were apparently a member. The moose pin, dated 1938, suggests his father. Also, the donor notes that Myers liked to collect pins and medals.
1. Ornate pin with hanging medallion and striped ribbon with 3 colors and metal-wound tassels. It reads: "Lancaster Castle NO. 126 / MEMBER / A.O.K. OF M.C. / LANCASTER / PENNSYLVANIA". L: 8" W: 2.375". Ancient Order Knights of the Mystic Chain was a fraternal society founded in Reading in 1870, now defunct. Lodges were called castles and membership was largely in PA.
2. Metal pin (missing its inset label) with red and white silk ribbon with coin-like medallion depicing a moose w/ "P.A.P. LOYAL ORDER OF MOOSE". Ribbon is printed: ""SECOND ANNUAL / EASTER / PENNSYLVANIA / MOOSE / CONVENTION / LANCASTER, PA, / JULY 1-4, / 1939". L: 4.5" W: 2"
3. Small, round lapel pin of the above L.O.O.M. with a moose head affixed to center & having a black glass bead centered on the eye. "OLD TIMER" is printed on lower extension. Mounted on threaded stud with round backing "nut". Dia: 0.5".
4. Tiny metal moose-head pin with black glass eye (as above) mounted on threaded stud. W: 0.25"
5. Tiny metal masonic lodge pin of "G" centered within compass and square. W: 0.25"
Provenance
Inherited by donor.
