Fraktur style handwriting, possibly in a book or Bible. Joseph Kauffman, son of Joseph and Susan Kauffman and Susanna Flory, daughter of John and Annie Flory and the year 1854.
Fraktur of Northumberland County dated 1813. This bizarre arrangement of motifs in brilliant colors shows the trend in the style of faktur at that time. the star in the bottom center is similar to a silver inlay used on guns of the period. The artist has created an interesting arrangement of birds, hearts, tulips and pinwheels.
A fraktur made by Henry Young in Central Pennsylvania. In this case the lady is wearing a yellow dress. Identical examples exist when the lady is wearing a pink dress. The maker is identified by the stars in the upper and lower corners. The figure's name is Elizabeth Walter, c. 1825.
