Trade card on rectangular buff-colored heavy paper, printed one side with J. Rose & Son, Manufacturers. Butterfly and flowers at top in muted tones of many colors. First printed line states: "Buy your child a School Umbrella, only 25 Cts..."
The 1886 Directory list both James Rose and a David Rose working at Rose Bros. & Hartman (umbrella manufacturers at 14 E. King St. 1890 Dir. lists the same partners. 1909 has Rose Bros. Co. at Lime & Fulton Sts. and the retail store at 14 E. King St.

Trade card for Steinman's Hardware is on rectangular buff- colored heavy paper, folded to create booklet form of four pagese. Apparently provided by Fairbanks & Co. of 715 Chestnut St. in Phila. for merchants who handled their line of scales. Outside two pages are fully color lithographed with various models of their scales depicted: upper scene is two girls weighing their doll and lower scene is three men weighing 3 bundles on a floor-model scales.
One page of other side has the company name at top, address at bottom, printed over a color lithographed scene of blindfolded classical female holding a scales, with two adorning children at her feet and below are two more children being weighed, flanking a scene of blacksmith shop.
Last remaining page is printed with "GEO. M. STEINMAN & CO>" noting that their line of products and the fact that they are "Agents for FAIRBANKS' STANDARD SCALEES." At bottom are three names: "GEO. M. STEINMAN", "GEO. M. FRANKLIN" and "GEORGE STEINMAN."
according to steinman book, the above three men were partners. the father was Geo. Michael Steinman (1815-84) the son was also Geo. Michael Steinman (1847-1920) and the son-in-law was Geo. Mayer Franklin who married daughter Sarah in 1866.
