Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, "Located between Atglen and Christiana.
The congregation of the church was organized in 1817. Church was built in 1820. It was a station on the 'Underground Railroad.' It observed its 116th anniversary in 1936. Destroyed by fire in 1937 and was immediately rebuilt with various changes in construction."

Rectangular white marble base. Ornately cast gilded bronze stem enhanced with scroll-shaped leaves, birds, blossoms and snails. An oval-shaped cast brass collar surmounts the stem with flat glass crystal prisms.

Cut glass liquor decanter with spiral cut glass mushroom lid. Neck consists of 4 rings. The body of the decanter is a decagon shape (10 sides). 1.00" break/missing glass along the lip.

One of two luncheon plates that was part of the Parisian Pink china purchased by James Buchanan while serving as the U.S. Secretary of State from the French Ambassador, Louis Adolphe Aimé Fourier, comte de Bacourt. Gilt rim with a wide pink band bordered by a second gilt band. The center is a hand painted floral scene.

In 1995 the JBF staff assigned the Object ID W.95.69.2 to this Compote as a FIC probably because original paper records were not found.
In March 2023 the paper file has been found that identifies Lois Cassatt Thayer as the donor in 1935. Mrs. Thayer was the daughter to Alexander Cassatt and his wife, Maria Lois Buchanan Cassatt. Maria Lois Buchanan was the daughter to Rev. Dr. Edward Y. Buchanan, the youngest sibling to President James Buchanan.
Blue cobalt toilet bottles. Opaque glass ball-topped stopper with gold dot on top. Flattish lip, long neck with foliate / berry painted design in white and orange. White wreath painted around shoulder with gold line band below.
Brass wick trimmer, traditionally known as a snuffer, looks like a pair of scissors. A raised rectangular box sits atop of the blades. The scissors sit horizontally supported on three brass legs.
Sheraton-American Empire tilt-top table. Top is an oblong shape with shaped corners; supported on a ring, vase and ball turned pedestal with a tripod base. A metal hinge at the top of the pedestal allows the top to tilt to the vertical position, which allow for ease of storage.

The table originally belonged to Mr. William T. Brundick who was the donor's Great Uncle.
This Berlinwork floral arrangement is cross-stitched on canvas using wool threads/strands. (The first patterns were published in Berlin, Germany.) The variety of colors create shading to provide dimension to the bouquet that contains many pink/red flowers. Sarah Ann Franz cross-stitched her name at the bottom center.
The piece is framed with a double mat, white and pink, in a large frame of mahogany veneer.
One of two teacups. Inside of cup is lined with gold. Gilt decor forms a wide band on the exterior around the rim that and connects to and covers the handle and a vertical gilt band that connects to the flared foot. The body of the bowl is white with a flower and landscape hand-painted scene.
