Letter from J. B. Henry to Mary Hagner Nicholson commenting on the “small card” he sent ahead of this letter; expresses his utter happiness when thinking of her; Congress reconvened with the Senate moving into its new hall; the capital gets water for the first time via aqueduct; has a rare night off; goes to Judge Campbell’s party while Harriet, Mrs. Craig, and Miss Magraw go to a concert; waxes romantic about a photograph of her; will be in Mr. Scharff’s wedding; comments on her father and mother; and expects a long letter in return and hopes to see her Saturday. Envelope with postmark, stamp, and wax seal almost intact addressed to Miss Mary H. Nicholson, Annapolis, Maryland. Washington, D.C.
