An act for opening and better amending, and keeping in repair, the public roads and highways within this province -- A supplement to the act intituled, "An act for the prohibiting the importation of Germans, or other passengers, in too great numbers, in any one vessel."
The Yeates, Carson Collection covers several generations and a variety of topics and gives insight into family and local social history from 1700-1874. The items in the collection include business and legal papers, receipts, estate accounts, correspondence, a biographical sketch of Jasper Yeates' grandfather, land surveys, indentures, financial records, and land agreements. The collection also contains a list of books sent to Phineas Bond for binding, certificates with seals, copies of poems, eviction notices, and requests for items to be delivered to Simon Girty and others in 1776.

Processed and finding aid prepared prior to 1997. Added to database 6 August 2022.
Wine bottle. Brown glass, shallow pontil, seamed shoulder and neck. Cork with red wax to seal mouth. Wine inside almost to shoulder level. Found by volunteers sometime during the early years of the James Buchanan Foundation. Bottle was found in the east end of the basement level in the Wheatland mansion.
Bilingual broadside printed on rag paper, advertising Benjamin Schaum's Hardware store on North Queen St., Lancaster. The ad begins in English with a note of thanks to Schaum's customers for their business. Next are lists of items available for purchase, including bar, rod, hoop and sheet iron, steel "Of every Description and Manufacture", glass, paintes, oil, varnishes, stoves, cedar and pewter wares, grindstones, spikes, nail, and brads. There are also illustrations of additional products, including a plane, anvil, and clamp.
The ad is also printed in German in the bottom quarter of the page, and at the very bottom is the printer's name, William Albright, and the location opposite the Market House, Lancaster.
Heavy creases down the center and across the middle. Some tears at various places along the edges, esp. 3" in from the lower left corner, and 2" up from the lower right corner. Apparent transfer of ink from another printed item visible.

Names of performers list surnames only: Mr. & Mrs. Duff, Mr. & Mrs. Beverly, Miss Hamilton, Mr. Johnstone, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Misters Clarke, Houpt, Durang & Bryan. Tickets available at Greaff's Hotel from Mr. Duff.
(b) Accompanying note written in ink in cursive: "The theatre in which this performance was given on Monday, August 30th, 1830, stood on the site of No. 36 West Chestnut street, now (1930) occupied by the Post Office."

In 1995 the JBF staff assigned the Object ID W.95.69.2 to this Compote as a FIC probably because original paper records were not found.
In March 2023 the paper file has been found that identifies Lois Cassatt Thayer as the donor in 1935. Mrs. Thayer was the daughter to Alexander Cassatt and his wife, Maria Lois Buchanan Cassatt. Maria Lois Buchanan was the daughter to Rev. Dr. Edward Y. Buchanan, the youngest sibling to President James Buchanan.
Woven jacquard coverlet with red roses, blue 9-petaled flowers, 8-point stars, red birds, and blue rose trees.
Center field: alternate stripes of blocks of red roses with blue 9-petaled flowers encircled by small 8-point stars with 2 larger stars between flowers.
Outer border: Alternate redbirds and blue rose treets on 3 sides.
Head edge: Bound with commercial red twill tape.
Center seam: Self fringe on 3 edges. Side wool fringes are looped.
Corner blocks: "Made by J. Witmer Manor Township for Hennah Sauder 1839"
