Sproul, Governor of Pennsylvania, 1919 - 1923, was born four miles soutwest in 1870. The ouse is marked. His term is noted for raod building, the Edmonds Act improving the public school system, and the creation of th eDepartment of Welfare. He died near Chester in 1928.
