Description
This collection contains ephemera related to Julius J. "Jule" Ritchey of Lancaster and his career as a middleweight boxer.
Admin/Biographical History
Julius J. "Jule" Ritchey was born in 1895 in Lancaster's Cabbage Hill neighborhood. During his career as a middleweight boxer, he fought 75 bouts, won 65 of them and had 4 KOs. He fought alongside local contemporaries Leo Houck, Rosey Stoy, and Tim Droney. He trained in various places around the world, including Havana, Cuba. Ritchey later worked from Armstrong until he retired in 1960. He died 9 January 1983 in Lancaster.

Notes
Dillman R. Bomberger (December 15, 1879 - 1944) was a schoolteacher and photographer who was born near Lexington, Elizabeth Township. He worked as a schoolteacher in Elizabeth Township and by 1910 was working as a bookkeeper for Bayonne Steel Casting Company in Reading, PA. He married Aimee Brubaker in 1910 and had two children: Verna and David.
The photographs in this collection are mostly of family or friends and locations in the Elizabeth Township, Warwick Township and Lititz area.

The Bowman Technical School was founded by watchmaker Ezra F. Bowman in 1887 to teach the trade of watchmaking and engraving. During World War I, the Bowman Technical School trained soldiers to repair delicate aviation and naval instruments.
