A) Walnut dove-tailed case with hinged lid with bail handle. Hook and eye closure at front. Interior is divided into five slots, lined in purple velvet. Lid contains brown paper label written in cursive, "S.R. Slaymaker's / original sample case / 1888"
Contents includes 5 locks of varying sizes and styles with cutaways on 2 largest, several of them marked "Pat. 1888" (B-F) and 2 keys (G,H)
Case has minor marring, stains and soil. Back of case has adhesive residue in rectangular shape. Velvet has wear and fading. Locks have expected wear, esp. paint finish.
Register of pastoral duties of Edward Y. Buchanan listing baptisms, marriages, burials, etc. by date; includes dates, places, and texts of sermons, etc. One volume bound in marbled paper with leather spine 105, [3] pages. Removed from endpaper a note by Edward Young Buchanan calculating the length of his marriage to his “darling wife A E.” 31 October 1875-7 April 1891.

The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.

Group of brewery workers drinking beer posed around a keg. The year 1885 is written on the keg. Possibly workers at Rieker Star Brewery, West King Street, Lancaster. Frank A. Rieker may be the man seated to the right of the keg.
Dr. S. T. Davis, Lancaster. The physician was prominent in medical, civic and political affairs. Born in 1838, he was a veteran of the Civil War. Married Elizabeth Fenstermacher in 1866, daughter of Christian and Catharine Fenstermacher.
