Black velvet sleeveless 2- tiered evening dress with v-neck . This piece is lined with a pink silky fabric along its length with facing from waist to sholder. 20 inches below the right shoulder a 6 inch wide metal ornament, silver covered with small rhinestones (glass). This ornament is sewn to the gathered "train" that falls 17" below the lower hem when the dress is worn. Inside pale tan straps attached to shoulders hold a black fabric tube/ lining that ends with the black velvet inner/lower skirt.
From shoulders to first hem is 36 inches. Last 17 inches extends 37 inches to side. The lower skirt is 14 inches long. Total legnth of dress from shoulder to bottom hem is 48 inches.

Woman's dress -- waist and skirt -- of blue linen or coarse, loose weave linen and lace. Skirt of turquoise fabric with 2 5.5in wide ecru lace inserts machine chain stitched around entire skirt. No lining. Waist edged in white fabric folded to cover raw edge. Machine stitched. Front section of skirt (5in wide) is flat with 10 2.5in long waist darts on each side from around to back placket. 9.5in long back opening has 3 hooks and eyes on underside; 7 on outer edge with "eyes" all covered with buttonhole stitch in matching threads: 4 ecru 3 turquoise. From waist: 3 in of toruquoise; 1 lace panel; 6in fabric panel with 7 pin tucked seams; 1 lace panel; 21.5in of turquoise wiht 9 pin-tuck seams ending at top of 2.5in hem. 6 box pleats in lower section of skirt, 3 on each side of a flat 7in in center front. All seam raw egdges are bound with a turquiose color binding Top 4 in of pleats seamed on inside to hold pleats in place. Hem is machine stitched. Binding on placket edges is shredding Some holes. Soiled hem.
Short sleeved bodice matches skirt with same turquoise fabric and lace. High neck (3in with gathered trim on edge) of lace with 3 stays to hold collar up. Bodice fastens with 5 hooks on veritcal edge as well as 5 hooks along left shoulder edge and 3 hooks along lower edge of collar. 2 17.5in long lace strips edged in gathered lightweight turquoise fabric are attached in back at underarm level. These are placed over shoulders to hang in front. Front lace pieces and turquoise fabric taper from shoulders to a "v" at center front. 7 rows of pin tuck seams on turquoise fabric. Bottom "v" shaped lace is attached to a gathered strip of fabric that fits the wear's waist. The lace "v" hangs over the waist in front. Spots in fabric on bodice front. Spots in fabric on bodice front. Repair at left sleeve shoulder seam. Some indication that lace strips may have at one time been lined with the filmy fabric that is also edging for neck, sleeves and over the shoulder flaps.
Amish infant girl's dress of gray cotton blend, made by mother Arie Stoltzfus for baby daughter Becky, born 18 April 1964, died 31 August 1964. Machine-sewn dress has long sleeves, a high waist with pleated skirt. Opens at back from neckline to mid point. Two snap closures.
Small handwritten note from donor reads: "Dress worn by little Becky, given by her mother (to donor) as a remembrance. She was born on April 18, 1964, and died on August 31, 1964. Becky was able to wear this dress until she died at the age of four months and thirteen days. Parents: Phares and Arie Stoltzfus."

Very good condition except for stains. Large dark brown liquid stain on skirt front, 2.5" up from hem near center. Some lighter adjacent stains. A .75" round stain at neckline, at right. Gray wool dress ensemble worn by Katie Schock, an Old Order River Brethren woman, on her wedding day near Washington Boro. Consists of skirt (A), top (B), apron (C) and cape (D), all of the same fabric.
A. Skirt: Gathered heavily in front. A 14-inch long opening at back with a pair of hook & eye closures on waist band. Olive-colored shoulder straps. Pocket of different fabric sewn onto back of skirt at proper left side. Deep hem.
B. Top: Lined with long sleeves. Front opening has 8 hooks and eyes. Bust darts, pleat in center of back at hem.
C. Apron: Pleats in front. Waist band extended, with ties of same fabric.
D. Cape: Lined; has a small piece of fabric for pins sewn onto back near bottom tip.
A: Skirt is fair with several mended holes e.g. on front near waist. Heavily altered and worn, esp. waist band.
B: Top is stained at armpits, small stains and wear at sleeve cuffs with mended lining. Worn spot at bottom front of proper left side. Mended holes under armpits. Moisture stains on lining.
C. Apron has some light stains; very worn spot near bottom, 6" in from proper left corner.
D. Cape is good except for extensive moisture stains on lining.

Deep rose Lancaster Amish girl's dress, polyester, machine-sewn by donor's mother, Annie B. Stoltzfus. Long sleeves; pocket in front; four pleats at skirt front and three at back; two darts at neckline. Opening in back has four dark purple buttons. Worn by donor as a girl.
Dress worn by Mrs. Streeter to James Buchanan's inauguration
Description
Floor length dark blue silk long-sleeved dress worn by Mrs. Streeter to Buchanan's 1857 inauguration. Neck edge trimmed with 1.5" wide scalloped lace. Inside edges of sleeves trimmed with pleated 1-inch wide white ribbon. 1/2-inch wide black velvet ribbon stitches in a decorative grid on fronts of sleeve cuffs, center neckline and at hem.
4 box pleats (with stiffening) across back at waistline. 1.25-inch wide belt (with 2 hooks and eyes) trimmed in black velvet ribbon with 6-petaled figure in center (front and back). Stays stiffen central vertical petals.
Front opening with 9 velvet-covered buttons. Front is flat across stomach. Long pocket under a pleat on the right side.
Interior: sleeves lined in white silk. Bodice faced in white cotton; skirt faced in coarse mesh. Both machine and hand-stitching. Detached bow with 28.5-inch streamers (2) to attach to back of dress.

Some velvet is worn; silk is separating in places; spots. Black binding on hem edge is frayed in places.
Two-piece cotton dress: bodice and skirt. Lightweight fabric, white with blue thistle plant print. Button front with round mother-of-pearl buttons on bodice. Pleated front and back. Stand up collar, long sleeves. Vertical pleats on front, 5 on each side. Buttons along waist which correspond with buttonholes on skirt. Ruffles are seewn onto the skirt 20in below the waist and at the skirt's hem. A .25in tuck allows the skirt to be lengthened.
Infant's dress. Lightweight, white, gauzy fabric with 4in wide eyelet border. Eyelet yoke edged top and bottom with commercial lace and pink thread and beads. 16.5 in long skirt gathered / flared from bottom of yoke. 5.5in of eyelet lace at bottom of skirt. Pink ribbon through lace at neck. Back opening about halfway down, with bound placket, seam below is machine stitched french seam. Button holes, both sides.
