1939 Lancaster Bar Association Photo Membership Plaque
Description
Sheet of 1.75 x 1.25 inch black and white portraits of members of the 1939 Lancaster Bar Association mounted on a wooden plaque. Photos begin upper left with J.W. B. Bausman, 1877, and end R.M. Barley, 1939 in lower right corner. Of the 98, two are women: A.E. Mumma, 1925; and S. H. Worthheimer, 1927.
Coin-shaped medallion, silvered metal, framed so it is visible from both sides. Front side depicts PA state seal surrounded by "THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY." Under seal is "INSTITUTED / A.D. / 1851
Reverse side is engraved "Awarded to / Saml. C. Slaymaker / Salisbury Lancaster Co. / for / Best collection of Apples / Exhibition of 1855" Encircled by wreath border of grapevines, corn and grain.
Medallion displayed in black velvet mount within a silver-painted wooden frame
Metal plaque, top 2/3 is an engraved image of farmland at the bottom, then technology and industry, including representations of trains, ships, tanks, factories, and airplanes in levels above the land. Superimposed in the center is the Army/Navy "E" flag. At the bottom: "Home Front Production, The Slaymaker Lock Company, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, This award is a tribute to the members of our organization who have made possible the winning of this honor." Good condition. Has flecks of white on the top half, and the metal color has been scraped in a few small spots (wheel near the center, the T and N in "Production").
