In her letter that accompanied the donation, Mrs. Myers informed the museum that "Mrs. Sherry said the basket was used for pretzels.
Mrs. Myers added that "Mrs. Sherry lived on the Old Factory Road near the Old Factory Bridge until about 15 years ago (1925) gave this pretzel basket and bread knife to me. They were given to her by Hetty Parker for whom Mrs. Sherry worked in the Buchanan home for 19 years.

One of 16 glass finger bowls. Frosted glass except where clear shield near the upper rolled edge. Shallow bowl with slightly convex bottom on inside. Shield design is etched with an engraved old English letter 'J'. Eight-point star impressed into center of bowl's exterior base.

Cable set presented to President James Buchanan showcasing various types of cables used in the making of the Trans-Atlantic cable. Queen Victoria was presented with a similar set to commemorate the first Trans-Atlantic cable sent from Queen Victoria to President James Buchanan on August 16, 1858.
Oblong shaped walnut veneered container with a back-hinged lid, beveled shape raised central flat area carved with egg-bead molding. Brass 8-point star bail handles are on each end; one handle missing. Brass round keyhole escutcheon is centered on the top front façade of the box with egg & bead molding around the base surmounting four flat-bun shaped feet. Interior features two boxes with back hinged lids as storage compartments for tea leaves. In the center is a circular aperture lined with felt holding a star cut glass mixing bowl to blend tea leaves.
Tea Caddy Dark wood with light wood inlay. Hinged lid. Center of box contains scenes of dark skinned men and women in merchant dress-small key hole in front.
Flat, brown, tooled leather case. Tooling has criss-cross, dot, and star patterns. Rounded on one end, open on the other. Small pointed flap at open end. Hard leather.
Silver caster. Elaborate floral decorated with detachable lid. Lid is pierced and topped with a small bud-like knob. Pine cone design. Neck and bulbous body have flower and leaf relief design. Etching at the bottom of the body reads, 'James Buchanan. Whe
This sterling silver coffeepot has a hinged angular and oblong shaped lid with a finial top surmounting a flaired angular neck adorned with a Greek key above a bulging torso. The spout is square with a goose neck shape and flat opening. The pot handle is angular and square with ribbed band decor. The pedstal style base is supported by four ball feet.
