Standing are June Floyd, left, and Rose Zangari, both of whom had four brothers serving. Seated left to right are Arthur Ott, principal; Sgt. Robert Herr of the class of 1936; Dr. C. Howard Witmer, school board president; Rev. C. E. Rice, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Neffsville; and W. E. Nitrauer, supervising principal of the district.

R. L. Gerhart Company's Ryan monoplane advertised El Capitan Coffee. Pilot Jesse Jones stands at left. This is thought to be the first business aircraft purchased by a Lancaster County company. It was the sister ship of the Ryan "Spirit of St. Louis" flown by Charles Lindbergh from New York to Paris in May 1927.
